New homecare trends in post-pandemic world.

Healthcare continues to be home-ward bound—and the trend has only gathered pace in the post-pandemic world. The growing hospitalization costs are likely to further drive care from hospitals to patients’ homes. Before the pandemic,  the primary focus for home care companies were seniors and people living with a disability or chronic disease, but experts believe that home care is likely to expand to younger populations and those without chronic conditions.

The pandemic has added to the loneliness epidemic, raising demand for companionship services, which are now becoming a high priority for homecare providers, who are ramping up their companionship services. In fact, these services are fast becoming vital social support and helping remove several barriers to well- being and health of seniors.

With demand for highly skilled homecare givers rising like never before, homecare providers will have to invest in specialised training.  With better salaries, an increasing number of nurses and other healthcare professionals will be more inclined than ever before to work in a home setting.

Homecare providers will embrace technology like never before, to support their day-to-day operations and for remote monitoring, medication reminders, and alerts to anomalies to keep those under their care safer, healthier and happier.
